What is Campus Kitchen?Student powered hunger relief. The Campus
Kitchens Project is a national network of 33 universities and schools across the nation who work together to combat hunger in their own communities. The best part? It's run by students. What do we do?Reduce food waste. We collect excess food that
would be otherwise wasted from local grocery stores, restaurants, Greek houses, and gardens. Feed hungry Athenians. We take the collected food into a kitchen space and transform it into healthy, delicious meals that are then delivered directly to those in our community who need it the most. Create the next generation of leaders. We empower students to question our current food system and then inspire them to recreate it. |
Who do we serve?Fighting to end senior hunger. In collaboration with the Athens Council on Aging, in March 2011 we began serving families in the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and Meals on Wheels programs.
Georgia is ranked 6th in the nation for Senior Hunger. We're doing something about it! How can you help? |
